Jun 10, 2019 well world conquest should be impossible no matter what country you play as but anything is possible when you cheat. But conquering the world is literally impossible in Victoria 2 without cheating. Ah ok, is at least 3/4 or even half the world possible as a minor then? I'm trying to get a sense of how much can be done.
- Victoria 2 is a grand strategy game, in which you usher in the political, diplomatic, economic, military and technological advancement of one of 200 19th-century states.
- The many nations of the world are quite varied and so are the infinite possibilities before each one. Quite obviously there is free will and what can be found in this section is speculation and probability, but even so it is best to have knowledge of the world and it's possibilities. And although I doubt there is a ruler of a nation reading, if you so choose to follow these suggestions based.

- This is a rough guide on how to conquer the entire world with the United Kingdom, based on this AAR:

- Early Years(1836-1850s/60s)
- You want to strip every European nation of all their African, Asian, and American colonies so we have free reign in Africa and Asia. Accept the alliance with Belgium(so you can get into a war with the Dutch and take their colonies). Early national foci should be used to encourage clergy, and to colonise in British Colombia, the islands off East Africa, and the Bali region.
- Immediately disband all Indian infantry and replace them with cavalry. For the first few years, build exclusively cavalry and artillery. Begin building about 250 steam transports and 50 commerce raiders: these will be used for blockades and transporting troops around the world.
- Begin by attacking Morocco, and taking everything except their capital; this prevents the usual Moroccan partition between Spain, France, and the Dutch. This gives 16 infamy. To go over the limit of 25 to provoke containment wars, DOW Tibet with the CONQUEST wargoal(not establish protectorate: always use conquest since it gives more prestige). This also gives you a border with China, which will make it easier getting them in your sphere(China should be the only nation you ever try to influence, except maybe Belgium).
- At this point, the Dutch will DOW Belgium; honour the call from Belgium and take all Dutch possessions outside their homeland(this will cost almost 100 warscore, so put your Asian steam transports to good use). The French and Russians will also declare containment wars. You want to take every French colony(especially Algeria and Tunisia) and Alaska from Russia. Occupying these and winning colonial battles and blockades should be sufficient, but if not, try luring the French onto the Channel islands and the Russians onto Osel and defeating them after blocking the straits with your navy.
- After you finish the wars with France and Russia, DOW Spain and Portugal to take all their colonies. Neither is particularly hard to beat, and you can lure the Spanish army into Morocco before blocking the Gibraltar straits and defeating them in Africa. At this point, the UK will be the only European country with territory outside of Europe(except the Ottomans).
- In Asia, Use your Indian armies and your Chinese ally to conquer every unciv. Remember to take Madagascar early so that France does not annex it; similarly, conquer Hawaii and Haiti before the USA spheres them. South America fields very few brigades at this time, so start with Venezuela, Uruguay, and Colombia and work down towards Peru, Ecuador, and Chile. I attacked Argentina too late, and they now have a massive army, so it's probably best to attack them(and Brazil) early. The USCA is nice because once you reduce them to Guatemala, they become Guatemala, and you can break the truce without penalties.
- In preparation for a huge war against Russia, conquer Persia and take Libya, Iraq, and Eastern Turkey from the Ottomans. In the late 1840s, begin moving troops to Canada in preparation for the Civil War to break out(which usually does in the 50s but it could be until the early 60s)
An in-depth strategy game that allows you to experience the hardships of being the leader of a nation at the dawn of the 20th centry
Not long ago, the map of the world was very different than what it is today, especially if you go back to the 19th century. The colonies seemed to be scattered all around the world, some of the empires were still in power and many of the current countries did not even exist. As you might suspect, being a nation leader in those times was not an easy task, since there were far more many threats to fear than economical hardships and globalization.
Take the reigns of the desired nation
Victoria 2 is a grand strategy game in which you are provided with the unique opportunity of impersonating one of these leaders, in order to see whether you would be capable of steering an entire nation into the right direction. By paying attention to political, economical and military matters, you must do your best in order to avoid rebellions, unwanted wars or bankruptcy, while also trying to expand and become a fearsome empire by the dawn of the 20th century.
In case you are not familiar with the said time frame, then you should know that it can be characterized as an era of colonization, absolute monarchies and industrialization. Not all of these characteristics were beneficial for humankind, but you must play your role and decide for yourself whether it's worth the trouble of colonizing other territories for profit. In the end, the happiness of your nation is all that matters, as well as the size of its treasury.
Automate tasks to be more efficient
The game provides you with a truly massive amount of options when it comes to gameplay, which might overwhelm you in the beginning. However, the more you persevere and try to keep a cool head, the more you can learn about the how to play it and achieve positive results. Moreover, after you get really cozy with the available controls and functions, it is even possible to automate some of the more regular tasks, such as population promotion and even trading.
However, war is also an important part of the game, since the 19th century was pretty violent as well. You can train armies and stay on top of your troops, appointing commanders and supplying them with resources in order to conduct successful conquest campaigns. If you really lean on the military aspect, however, you can even build your own empire and become one of the world's great powers, right there in line with France and England.
Deep and addictive gameplay mechanics
Victoria 2 may not be the perfect choice for beginners and newcomers to the genre, but it is certainly a sturdy strategy game that can keep you occupied for extended periods of time. In addition, the replayability value is through the roof, since no two sessions are ever the same and there are plenty of countries to choose from.
